Senapati, March 17 2019:
Advocating and accepting Trashtag Challenge that has quickly spread across the globe inviting people to clean up rubbish and post the before and after pictures on social media to keep the environment clean, the Hills Media TV, Senapati had taken up the first step of cleaning and picking up of trashes in and around the main bazar areas of Senapati yesterday.
The main objective of organizing such cleanliness drive is to spread the awareness of the importance of maintaining neat and clean environment.
In 2015, the ambassador of UCO, a Seattle-based Outdoor Equipment Company, Steven Reinhold had an idea to inspire people to pick up trash and dispose it properly and it eventually launched the TrashTag Project as a new challenge that has become popular on social media at present.
Named as the Trashtag Challenge, it encourages people to pick up litter and post it on their social media while adding Trashtag Challenge.
Following this new challenge, a number of people also attached before-and-after photos of their rubbish filled and cleaned up area that has inspired other internet users to do the same while cleaning up their environment.
People usually do it on the beaches, parks, sidewalks or underwater.
Meanwhile, several users were asked whether they could take up the challenge as well.
The media team has reportedly taken up the initiative to change the mindset of the common people on the emergent need of the hour to maintain neat and clean in one's surrounding as well as to keep a clean environment.
The team had reportedly collected some 30-40 sacks of trashes littered in and around the main bazaar.
In this regard, the team also urged all the denizens of the town to realise the need to live a clean and healthy life on earth that could prevent them from different kind of diseases.
Further, the team appealed all the social and local organizations to come together as one for "Clean Senapati Mission" to look and control the manner the wastes are being dumped and littered in the town areas.
It may be mentioned that the District Administration had, in the past, installed and constructed so many garbage dump site at different places in the town area with two garbage Tippers transporting the garbage out of the town to a place above Kathikho Karong, some 6 km away from the District Headquarters.
So many awareness programmes, under district PHED, had also been organized on the importance of maintaining a clean environment and atmosphere in the past while different eco-clubs and student community of the district too had, in the past, organized social services and cleaned the town area.
Calling all the residents of Senapati that it is their responsibility to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings, the team appealed all to keep the town area and their surroundings neat and clean and shunned the bad habit of littering waste materials in public places.
As part of their mission, the team had also visited Senapati River and cleaned the area.
