ATSUM inspects Govt Colleges

Several leaders of ATSUM today conducted on the spot scrutiny of the two Government colleges located in Churachandpur district to obtain an authentic condition of the educational institutions even as they urged the Government to fast-track the process for introduction of BEd courses as well as Master's degree at Churachandpur College.
Briefing reporters on the side-lines of their visit, the team comprising of Kakai Singsit, secretary education; Shimthar Jajo, legal secretary; Lamcha Chongloi, secretary sports, the student leaders acknowledged the contribution made by the; Principal of Churachandpur College, Vanlallawm Guite and his staff for transforming the college into a centre of academic excellence.
Their stupendous job is worth emulating by all contemporary hill colleges functioning in Manipur, they said.
Citing their recent talks with the Government, ATSUM representatives said BEd course will be introduced in Churachandpur College along with another hill college from the next academic calendar.
They also stuck to the demand for PG courses in the same college, in line with the upgradation of DM College of Arts and Science, as it fulfills all parameters for upgradation.
The motive behind giving preferences to the valley when any considerable Work is taken up by the Government is also worth questioning, they said.
In sync with the remarkable performance of Churachandpur College, the ATSUM leaders also said urged the Education Minister to award a special package to the College.
As for Lamka College, the visiting team assured that problems afflicting the institution will soon be ameliorated, if the commitment given by the competent authority takes effect.
