Consultation programme on reproductive, health rights held

Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), Manipur conducted a one day consultation programme on 'reproductive and health rights' today at the conference hall of Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal.
The State is now equipped with numerous schemes for women and child development like Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) under the National Rural Health Mission, Janani Suraksha Yojana and various other child birth related schemes, HRLN director Meihoubam Rakesh stated.
Sadly however, these schemes are not fully functional in the State, Rakesh added.
Facilities like free ultra sound treatment and blood transfusion to expecting mothers under Janani Suraksha Yojana are yet to be implemented in the State.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department, Ranjana Manoharmayum, during her speech, elaborated on the topic, 'Prospect and problems of implementation of ICDS in Manipur' .
Human Rights Law Network, Delhi, director Sanjay Sharma and ASHA workers were also present at the consultation programme held here today.
