KSO serves ultimatum over 'hit and run' case

Kangpokpi, January 17 2020:
The Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) Sadar Hills has appealed the culprit (s) involved in the 'killing' of one of its members in an alleged hit and run case on January 15 evening to confess before 6 pm of January 18 and served 24 hours ultimatum to the State Government to book the culprit.
It may be recalled that on January 15 evening at around 7.30 pm, a student at Manipur Theological College, Mission Compound, Kangpokpi who is also a member of KSO was found dead with severe injury on his head on the roadside between Yaikongpao and Kalapahar.
The deceased was identified as H Ngamboithang Kipgen alias Boithang, S/o Semmang Kipgen of Pangjang Village in Saikul, Kangpokpi District.
His body was taken to District Hospital Kangpokpi and later deposited at RIMS morgue by Kangpokpi Police while a case has been filed at Kangpokpi Police Station.
The deceased bike (Pulsar) was also found badly damaged at the site of the incident.
KSO Sadar Hills General secretary, Lalgoulen Haokip said that the incident was clearly a hit and run case.
Urging the guilty party to come forward and own up before 6 pm of January 18, he also appealed the Government to put all efforts to book the culprit (s) within 24 hours in case they failed to turn up.
Apart from normal road accident which has become a daily affair along National Highway-2, there has been more than three hit and run cases within this month, he said and condemned the State Government and BIPL for not installing road safety signage along the highway.
He also said that the dead body will not be claimed until the perpetrator is booked.
If the State Government fails to book the culprit within the stipulated time, a total blockade will be imposed from 6 am of January 19, he cautioned and appealed the general public to provide any information about the incident which could help in finding out the culprit (s) .
