Womenfolk of Bishnupur stages protest, demands revocation of President's Rule

Bishnupur, February 16 2025:
Womenfolk of Moirang staged a sit-in protest at Moirang Bazar denouncing the imposition of President's Rule in the State and arrests of village volunteers by security personnel.
The sit-in protest was jointly organised by KEMKAL Moirang, MAMPIL Moirang, ANUL Moirang Pana, Indigenous Development Mission Moirang.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, M Thoibi stated that amid the crisis in the State, the recent imposition of President's Rule has made the people of the State more anxious.
Demanding immediate removal of the President's Rule in the State, she voiced her concern over the disunity among legislators.
She further reminded them of the June 18 incident and urged them to not invite another June 18 in the State.
During the protest, placards which read "Withdraw PR immediately from Manipur," "Revive Manipur Government immediately," "Stop arresting Village Volunteers", "Protect and Safeguard Territorial Integrity of Manipur", etc were used during the protest and similar slogans were raised by the protesters.
A similar protest was also held at Naranseina, organised by the Naranseina Meira Paibi Apunba Lup condemning the imposition of the President's Rule in the State.
The imposition of the President's Rule is injustice to the People of Manipur, said the protesters.
They chanted slogans like "We condemn imposition of PR in Manipur," "Dorit arrest village volunteers", "Protect territorial integrity of Manipur" .
Meanwhile, Nupi Chaokhat Lup, Sunusiphai also organised a sit-in protest at Sunusiphai condemning the imposition of the President's Rule in the State.
Speaking at the protest, one Meira Paibi leader stated that at this juncture when the State is suffering due to the ongoing unrest in the State, the untimely resignation of N Biren Singh from the Chief Minister position is unacceptable.
In addition, the frequent arrest of village volunteers from the periphery area by the security forces is condemned at the strongest term, she added.
She also highlighted the critical need for political stability in the State to restore peace.
Similar protests were also held at Terakhongsangbi and Khudekpi organised by the Terakhongsangbi Meira Paibi Lup and Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup.
