The Senapati District Truck Owners Association, Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union and the Senapati District Drivers Welfare Union have jointly called indefinite economic blockade along Imphal-Mao highway with effect from the midnight of January 16 .
This was announced at a press meet held at Senapati where the representatives of the three organizations denounced the failure of the State Govt to terminate ASI Hitler Singh from service.
They said that the economic blockade has been called as the deadline set for terminating the ASI had expired.
Notably, ASI Hitler Singh, posted at Reserve Line, Kangpokpi Police Station assaulted a truck driver identified as one Dale of Kapao village, Senapati at Kangpokpi Bazar on January 14, the video of which went viral on social media.
The three associations had earlier given a deadline to terminate the accused within 48 hours after the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi suspended him.
The three associations further warned that they would be compelled to go even to the extent of calling total blockade along the highway if their demand is not met within 48 hours.
