Senapati, May 15 2022:
The Southern Tahamzam Naga Council (STNC) has called the statement made by Sadar Hill Chief Association (SAHILCA) as immature and senseless.
In a release issued by STNC president A Lokho and secretary T John, the council strongly condemned SAHILCA for recognising a few Kuki CSOs namely, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Thadou Inpi Kangpokpi, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association (TYA), Vaiphei People's Council, Kangpokpi(VPC), Zillai Kangpokpi, Gangte Student's Organization, Kangpokpi, Kuki Women Union, Kangpokpi, Thadou Women Association, Kangpokpi, and Komrem Students' Association Kangpokpi as the only civil organizations in Kangpokpi.
"Such an immature and senseless statement made by SAHILCA is uncalled for.
Many communities are residing in Kangpokpi and each community is represented by their own CSOs.
SAHILCA does not have the right or power to selectively name who are CSOs and who are not", it added.
The council also advised SAHILCA to realise that their immature statement has the potential to create communal chaos in the state.
"Selling and leasing of land is a tribal village affairs and cannot be forced as a general rule of law, this type of irrational statement made under the aegis of SAHILCA is unfortunate", it added.
The council cautioned that there will be anarchy in the state if every individual or organization take the law in their own hand ignoring the democratic values of others.
STNC also urged all to avoid such illogical statements which could create enmity and social disharmony between the communities.
Alleging that indigenous people of the state have lost lands due to the callousness of the State Government in the past, STNC further appealed to the Government to be vigilant in checking infiltration of illegal migrants from neighbouring countries.
