Mapum village celebrates Luita Haato festival

Seed sowing festival of Mapum village, 'Luita Haato' was celebrated today at Mapum village to seek blessing from the Almighty by performing Tangkhul traditional rituals at Mahon Ngapao ground Mapum village, Ukhrul.
On the first day of the Luita Haato, women who had married outside the village were also invited and were given a rousing welcome wherein they were also presented with Tangkhul traditional necklace.
Mapum villagers to ensure that parental relation is maintained hosted a special programme for "Yorla" in Tangkhul parlance women who were married to other villages or communities on first day of the seed sowing festival by presenting Tangkhul traditional necklace to every attending women of the village.
More than 210 women attended the Luita Haato Phanit.

Retired Headmaster Pebam Joykumar who attend as the chief guest of the four days seed sowing festival inaugurated the festival by hoisting village flag at Mahon Ngapao ground Mapum village, Ukhrul in the presence Headman AS.

It might be mentioned that Joykumar was among few school Headmasters of Mapum village, who had dedicated his life to uplift villagers and to transformed the rural education.
Hormi Zimik who attended as the guest of honour of the festival urged the visiting Mapum Yorla to uphold the same spirit by enliven love of being one family of Mapum village.
Meanwhile, the headman AS Wungchan expressed warm festival greeting to all and went on mentioned that the physical present of Mapum Yorla is clear indication of support and encouragement to the village.
Subsequently, the headman performed the act of blessing to all the attending Yorla members by presenting gift.
Later, the headman Wungchan also distributed seeds to all the village women to begin their yearly agricultural activities and for bountiful blessing.
It might be mentioned that, Day II of Luita phanit is reserved for Vamkashok meaning the village is organising feast for all visiting guest or visitirs to share the joy of seed sowing festival.
