Imphal, January 15 2019:
BJP Manipur State Unit spokesperson Ch Bijoy has claimed that the BJP has always been acting as per the sentiments and wishes of the people when it comes to any State issue.
Speaking to media persons at BJP Manipur State unit office at Canchipur today, Bijoy said that the State Government started meeting leaders/representatives of various CSOs yesterday and the Government is planning to further meet other stakeholders and associations concerned.
Stating the BJP's stand is the collective stand of all its members, Bijoy said that the double standard shown by the Congress party regarding the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by the Lok Sabha, is condemnable.
He narrated that in 2011, when Tarun Gogoi was the Chief Minister of Assam, his Cabinet took a decision opposing the treatment of Hindus, Buddhists and Christians from Bangladesh as foreigners and to treat them as Indian citizens.
Bijoy claimed that as per a memorandum submitted by Tarun Gogoi to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 20, 2012, it is mentioned that the Bengali speaking Hindus, Christians from Bangladesh should be given Indian citizenship.
It also mentioned that treating them as foreigner is inhumane.
He continued that the recent opposition to the CAB by Tarun Gogoi as well as the blame game played by MPCC regarding the issue clearly show their double standards.
It is the nature of the Congress party to say something and do something else, he claimed.
He then added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that development can be brought in the country only when the Congress is uprooted from the country, is true.
The Congress party should be eradicated from the State as well, Bijoy said.
