Imphal, October 14 2024:
Babina Hospital has successfully organised a free mental health camp, aimed at providing early diagnosis, consultation, and treatment of mental health issues.
The camp, held at the hospital's premises in Khabeisoi on Monday, saw participation from 50 individuals, all of whom received free consultations with expert psychiatrists, alongside complementary diagnostic tests for thyroid, kidney function tests (KFT), Liver function tests (LFT), and blood sugar levels for those patients in need.
The event was conducted under the expert care of two renowned consultant psychiatrists, Dr Haobijam Angomacha and Dr Asheema Haobijam, whose combined experience and compassionate approach helped participants address a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, and stress.
According to a release issued by Babina Hospital, the primary objective of the camp was to promote early detection and treatment of mental health issues, improving the overall quality of life for individuals by preventing the escalation of such conditions.
With mental health being a growing concern, especially given the current crisis affecting the State, the camp aimed to help individuals identify early signs of mental health challenges and provide them with the necessary support and resources to cope effectively.
Dr Haobijam Angomacha emphasized the importance of early intervention, stating, "Mental health is often neglected, especially during times of crisis.
Our goal is to provide support to those in need, guide them through effective treatment options, and help them achieve a healthier, balanced life".
Dr Asheema Haobijam echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need for continued mental health awareness and access to regular assessments.
"The impact of the ongoing crisis has left many grappling with emotional and psychological challenges.
Our camp was an effort to make mental health care accessible to everyone, ensuring no one suffers in silence", she added.
The camp was conducted as part of BABINA Hospital's ongoing commitment to community service and health outreach, particularly in addressing the mental health crisis.
