Imphal, June 14 2024: A 25 year old man has been remanded to judicial custody till June 28 for sexually assaulting a stepdaughter.

The accused from Bishnupur Muslim Leikai Ward Number II, staying at Uripok Huidrom Leikai at present, was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police on June 9 .

The accused was produced before the Court of Special Court, POCSO Imphal West after completion of the police custody period along with a prayer of judicial custody remand.

Through a Special PP, the IO of the case submitted that as per the statement of the minor victim, she was sexually assaulted and physically abused by her step father in a rented house located at Uripok Yambem Leikai, and the same charge was admitted by the accused during police interrogation.

The Court, after hearing the Special PP and on perusal of the case record, remanded the accused in judicial custody till June 28 .

Notably, the accused committed the heinous crime while he was out on bail in connection with another sexual assault case registered at Women Police Station, Bishnupur in September 2018 .

Trial of the case is presently pending before the Fast Track Special Court Number 1, Manipur .

In the previous case, the same man is accused of committing sexual assault on a minor girl in a paddy field somewhere under the jurisdiction of Bishnupur police station on September 7, 2018 at around 9.30 am .
