Imphal, January 14 2013:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged the barbers of the State to charge Rs 20 for haircut per head as fixed by the State Labour Department on October 10, 2010 .
In a press conference held at DESAM head office at Keishampat this afternoon, DESAM Assistant General Secretary P Premananda said, as of now, there is no change in the charge of haircut fixed by the Government in 2010 .
Saying that the rate of Rs 20 was announced through a Government order following a request from the Manipur Barbers Association, Premananda said, the Government has not increased the said rate.
As such, the barbers who are currently charging Rs 30 for haircut must immediately cut down the rate to Rs 20, he said.
He also also cautioned that any barber who charges more than Rs 20 must held responsible for any eventuality.
Taking part at the press conference, Manipur Barbers Association Secretary Pappu Thakur also urged the barbers to charge only Rs 20 as fixed by the Government.
He also said that the association would not held responsible for any eventuality arising out of charging more than the Government fixed rate.
