Imphal, November 13 2012:
The Komrem Union has strongly condemned the act of triggering a bomb blast near Imphal College along Imphal-Churachandpur road yesterday which killed a man and injured his younger brother.
Speaking to media persons at RIMS mortuary today, Komrem Union secretary Arang Zatak said that triggering bomb blast in public places like colleges was an act of terrorism.
The deceased victim Mangte Munneilin Kom (40) of Khonomphai village, Churachandpur district and his injured brother Chumpa Kom (20) were wage earners.
A protest demonstration was planned against the bomb attack but it was aborted following Home Minister Gaikhangam's assurance to discuss the matter tomorrow, Arang said.
Mangte Inpui president Lalpu Mangte appealed to all UG groups to target security forces, if they must, in such a way that no collateral casualty is caused to civilians.
Munneilin was the sole bread winner for his family and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
The Government should provide adequate compensation to the bereaved family and foot the medical bill for treatment of his younger brother.
If these demands are not fulfilled at the earliest, Komrem Union Manipur, Mangte Inpui and Komrem Students' Union would be compelled to launch all sorts of agitation.
Meanwhile, corpse of the deceased victim has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
The injured brother has been shifted to Shija Hospital from RIMS for further treatment.
