Chandel, June 13 2022: In line with the celebrations of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 and Environment Day 2022, awareness programmes were successfully conducted at 25 different locations in Chandel district from June 5 to 11, 2022 under the Ministry of Jal Shakti's Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) .

The awareness programmes were organised by PHED Chandel in collaboration with Regional Development Society (REDS), said a release.

It was attended by Dr B Cingdeihnieng, District AIDS Control Officer Chandel; Newry Tongsin Anal, District Project Manager, Accelerate project Chandel; K Neinu Monsang, secretary Rural Women and Child Development Society (RWCDS) and Henei Hangsing, Additional Nurse Superintendent of JNIMS Imphal.

During the event, awareness sessions on hygiene management were conducted under the guidance of trained and experienced medical professionals.

Free biodegradable sanitary napkins along with instructions on safe disposal were also distributed.

A door-to-door campaign was also conducted with REDS to spread awareness through one-on-one interactions and distribute sanitary pads which are biodegradable and affordable.
