Food Security Act meeting

Uripok AC MLA Laishram Nandakumar has
claimed that his Constituency is one of the few Constituencies of
the State where PDS items are made available to common people
regularly.
He was speaking at a meeting on the implementation of
National Food Security Act 2013 at his Nagamapal Singjubung
Leirak private residence today.
Stating that PDS items like
rice, sugar and kerosene are regularly distributed to the people
in his Constituency every month, Nandakumar said that he is
looking forward to proper implementation of National Food
Security Act as well.
Saying that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) would
be implemented in Imphal West and Senapati districts from
April 1 this year, the MLA said that the Act would directly
benefit the poor people of the two districts.
The MLA said that
PDS agents would no longer distribute PDS items after the
implementation of the Act.
He further said that the validity of
BPL, AAY and APL cards would also automatically cease
after the enforcement of the Act and NFSA items would be
distributed through eight Fair Price Shops in Uripok AC.
Uripok Block Congress Committee president Y Jayenta,
IMC Ward No 4 Councillor Aryankumar alias Gandhi and
other Block Congress Committee members were also present
at the meeting.
BPL, APL, AAY and National Food Security
Act card holders and their families of Uripok AC also attended
the meeting.
