Counting of Jiribam Panchayat election completed

Jiribam, October 12 2017:
The counting of the 5th General Panchayat Election votes of Jiribam district began from 8 am of October 11 and concluded at around 6.30 am today.
The counting started from ward members, Pradhan and Zilla Parishad .
During the process, the fate of 49 ward members were decided through contest while 8 ward members were declared uncontested among the overall 57 ward members.
The six seats of Pradhan were won by L Samarendra Singh of 1/1 Hilghat Gram Panchayat against K Ibomcha Singh by securing 1471 votes, RK Nobinsana of 1/2 Dibong Gram Panchayat won against Prativa Mani Singh, Ashma Begum of 1/3 Sonapur Gram Panchayat against Rukiya Begum, Makhan of 2/4 Latingkhal Gram Panchayat who secured 973 votes won against Babul, Laljading Hmar of 2/5 Borobekra Gram Panchayat secured 570 votes and won against his rival Neithang by a margin of 8 votes and Sadana Das of 2/6 Jakuradhor Gram Panchayat won one of the seats by securing 742 votes .
Meanwhile, the two seats of Zilla Parishad were filled by K Janaki Devi of 1 Hilghat Zilla Parishad and Samarjit of 2 Borobekra Zilla Parishad.
The RO, ADC Jiribam, A Shivadas Sharma and DEO/DC, Jiribam handed certificates to the winning candidates.
