'Video misused to tarnish image of Meetei community'

Imphal, September 12 2024: Adhikarimayum Sarita, a resident of Sagolband Sayang Konthoujam Leikai, has expressed anguish over the misuse of a video uploaded on her Facebook Page "Sarita Adhikarimayum" on September 8, 2024, by some Kukis with the aim to tarnish the image of the Meetei community.

Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Sarita said that a channel called "Wider Decode (WD)" reportedly operated by some Kukis took some parts of her video with the malicious intent to undermine the Meetei community.

"The video circulated by the channel was taken out of context", clarified Sarita while adding that in the video, she only said that there was no aerial attacks using drone bombs at Koutruk during that particular time (from 6.30 pm to 7 pm) .

Sarita continued that she made the remark after asking some of her acquaintances from Koutruk about whether the aerial bombing was still going on in the area at that time.

Furthermore, Sarita conveyed her sincere apology to the public for her irresponsible statement and added that she will not repeat such acts which may be used by others to tarnish the image of the Meetei community.

Notably, on September 1, 2024, Kuki terrorists carried out a massive aerial bombing using high tech drones at Koutruk in Imphal West District killing an innocent women and leaving several others severely injured including her minor daughter.

This was followed by another attack on September 5 at Moirang using a long range rocket killing an elderly man who was preparing for a ritual ceremony at the home of a former Chief Minister of Manipur.

Then on September 7, Kuki terrorists infiltrated a village in Jiribam district and shot dead a elderly civilian while he was sleeping in his own house.
