Imphal, July 12 2014 :
The People Action Committee constituted against the killing of Soram Prakreet of Uripok Sorbon Thingel has announced to resort to different forms of agitation as the Government has allegedly failed to respond positively on the incident.
Speaking to reporters at Sorbon Thingel Community Hall, convenor of People Action Committee Against the Killing of Soram Prakreet, T Raju said that Soram Prakreet (38) s/o Tikendrajit went out of his house on July 4 before he was found murdered on a road leading to Kairang on July 6 .
The committee was constituted yesterday as the Government did not give any positive response to the memorandum submitted by the locals of Sorbon Thingel to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi on July 10 .
The committee would start carrying out poster campaigns apart from picketing Government offices and educational institutes at Uripok area from tomorrow, he added.
Some people saw Prakreet driving a two-wheeler with popular singer at around 7.30 pm on July 4 on Uripok road, he said.
However, upon inquiring about Prakreet's whereabouts to the singer, she told Prakreet's family that he returned home after he left her in her house in the evening of July 4, Raju said.
On July 6 at around 6.30 am, Heingang Police informed Prakreet's family about the recovery of his body.
Prakreet's body was cremated on the same day after post mortem examination.
Raju said that Heingang Police refused to file an FIR regarding the incident although Prakreet's family requested them on two different occasions on July 7 and 8 .
Raju also demanded the Government to investigate the incident and punish the culprits.
Prakreet is survived by an eight-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son.
