National Deworming Day launched at Bpr, Kakching & Ukhrul

As part of the nationwide observation of National Deworming Day, similar campaigns were launched at Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal district.
Organised by District Health Society, Bishnupur the 4th National Deworming Day of Bishnupur district was launched at Diligent Public School Moirang.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by ADC N Gojendro Singh as chief guest, Chief Medical Officer of the district, Dr H Babychand Devi as president and ZEO zone IV Bishnupur, Tikendrajit Nepram, ICDS DPO L Sorojini Devi and Diligent Public School Principal K Bijyarani as guests of honour.
DLOs of Health Department, Programme manager and staff of Health Society, Anganwadi Supervisors and school teachers were also present.
A total of 86,000 children from 1 to 19 years has been targeted for deworming where 298 private schools, 912 Anganwadi centres will be covered.
Meanwhile, the Mop Up Day will be held on February 20.The DC, Kakching Neilenthang Telien also launched the observation, organised by District Health Society, Kakching at Practising Junior High School, Kakching.
The function was attended by the DC, Neilenthang Telien as chief guest, CMO kakching Dr Sh Mangol Singh as president, District Family Welfare Officer Kakching Dr Ksh Memcha Devi, ICDS Project kakching CDPO S Manikumar, ZEO kakching Y Achouba as guests of honour.
During the function, students of the school under 19 years were dewormed today and the remaining children will be dewormed at schools and Anganwadi centres, reports our correspondent.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul District Health Society (UDHS) has set its target to deworm 80,000 children for both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts during the National Deworming Day this year.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul launched the National Deworming Day (NDD) for both the districts at two separate occasions.
The DC first inaugurated the National Deworming Day at Public School Viewland, Ukhrul in the presence of CMO Dr Ayao Vashum, Medical Superintendent Yuithing Vashum, District Nodal Officer Dr Kapangring, DPM Ramayo, CDPO Apam Zimik, Education Dept staff and UPS Principal and staff.
The DC also launched the National Deworming Day for Kamjong district at TBT School at around 2 pm at Phungyar block headquarters.
The chief guest during the launching programme urged the public and the parents to fight worm infection and related diseases, reports our correspondent.
She said timely administering of the Albendazole tablets will ensure the well-being of every children of the Nation and underlined the need of mass awareness about the important of deworming.
The Nodal officer Dr Kapangring highlighted the cause of worm infections while adding that the diseases or infection, if neglected, could result to deficiency of vitamin A, nutritional impairment, Anemia, weight loss, lack of concentration etc.
According to the District Nodal officer, chewable Albendazole tablets have been distributed for tomorrow's deworming programme which will be supplied to all schools, Anganwadi Centres and to the ASHA members.
Meanwhile," the Mop-Up Day for those who skipped the Deworming Day will be held on February 20 .
