Dental college on the card

A dental college would be set up under the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).
A decision to this effect was adopted at the 23rd meeting of JNIMS governing council held today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi who is also the chairman of the council presided the meeting which was also attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore and high ranking officials of Health Department and JNIMS.
The proposed dental college would be the first State-run dental college in Manipur, informed an official source.
The decision adopted at the JNIMS governing council meeting would be tabled before the State Cabinet for an appropriate resolution.
It is said that JNIMS was able to accrue Rs seven crore to the State exchequer last year.
The council meeting further agreed to absorb Grade III and IV employees of Health Department into JNIMS, added the source.
