Imphal, December 11 2024: The Joint Co-ordination Committee Against the Forest Reservation of Langthabal Chingthak, Chingkha & Khoupum Ching (JCCFRLCCK), Rongmei/Kabui Village under 68-Heibok Ching has urged for the repeal of the Cabinet decision declaring Heibok Ching as a Reserved Foreston October 24, 2024 .

The Committee asserted that the Cabinet resolution was adopted without due regards to the decision of Maharaj Garibniwaz allegedly allowing the Rongmei/Kabui community to settle in the hills of Langthabal, presently renamed as 68-Heibok Ching, said a press release issued by Gondaimei Chaningai, secretary, JCCFRLCCK .

Additionally, JCCFRLCCK expressed strong objection to the proposed demarcation/survey of the boundary of 68-Heibok Ching by the State authority.

The Committee has threatened to launch intense agitations if the Cabinet decision is not rescinded or the proposed survey is conducted without the approval of the stakeholders concerned.
