RIMS Director guns against private practices

Along with hinting at possible increase in the number of seats for MBBS students, RIMS Director Prof S Sekharjit has officially denounced some doctors and paramedical staff indulging in private practice at their homes and clinics.
According to a statement issued today by the RIMS media advisor the Director issued an office memorandum saying that some doctors and paramedical staff have been indulging in private practice at their homes and clinics.
The attention of the CBI, Central vigilance office, Income tax department has been drawn to this matter.
The RIMS authority has also taken a serious view of this illegal practice, the statement maintained while disclosing that the Director has cautioned doctors, paramedical staff including nurses against this illegal practices.
In the past such office memoranda had been issued.
On the otherhand, the number of seats for the MBBS students in RIMS is all set to be increased from present 100 to 150, informed the statement while quoting Prof S Sekharjit as saying today that formal announcement on the same is about to be made.
Out of 150 students there will be reservations for OBC students as per guidelines of the government of India.
The RIMS authority has been insisting on infrastructural facilities ahead of the increase of the seats.
It is understood that the necessary infrastructure would be provided shortly, the statement said.
Later the Director distributed promotion orders to a number of doctors who have been duly promoted.
A number of doctors in Government service are reported to be indulging in private practices.
