Tribal students to rally on Oct 13

Imphal, October 11 2016: Reaffirming the resolution adopted in the joint sitting of tribal student organisations on October 9, a joint meeting of tribal organisations convened by the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) today has | resolved to stage a peaceful rally on October 13 to protest the decision of the Academic Council of Manipur University to adopt the reservation norms laid down in 2006, which is 7.5 percent for ST students.

The rally will be the first phase of the protest against the unresolved imbroglio on reservation quantum for ST students in Manipur University, said a joint statement issued by ATSUM, ANSAM and KSO today.

Higher Secondary and college students drawn from different tribal ethnic groups have been urged to participate the rally which will be staged from Adimjati hostel complex and will proceed to Raj Bhawan where a memorandum will be submitted to the Governor.

The students will converge at 10.30 am and march upto the Raj Bhawan.
