Imphal, January 11 2013:
In the backdrop of accelerated negotiation between Government of India and NSCN-IM for a solution to the 15 years long political dialogue, Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah have asked political position of the Kabui villages of Imphal valley.
A highly placed source informed that the NSCN-IM leadership asked political position of the Kabui villages of Imphal valley with an intention to incorporate the Kabui villages within the framework of the political situation which is expected soon.
Following the intimation from Isak and Muivah, Kabui villages of Imphal valley held a meeting at the office of Zeliangrong Union at Kakhulong here today.
As per the meeting notification issued by the ZU (AMN) secretary, the meeting was convened after receiving a directive from Isak and Muivah to adopt a common decision for possible future political position of the Kabui villages of Imphal valley.
As any decision adopted at the meeting should be sent to the collective leadership of NSCN-IM, all village elders and Peis were requested to attend the meeting without fail.
Accordingly, leaders of around 70 Kabui villages scattered around Imphal valley held a meeting at the ZU office
this afternoon.
ZU president Amu Kamei informed that the meeting resolved not to leave their ancestral villages.
As for the benefits of tribal sub-plan which are being denied to the Kabuis, the meeting decided to approach both the Centre and State Governments to ensure that Kabuis too receive the same benefits.
Another source informed that the ZU would be sending a memorandum to the Government of India to ensure that certain benefits are extended to the Kabuis of Imphal valley as and when NSCN-IM and New Delhi strike a final solution.
