MLA Losii Dikho graces Mao Naga Freshers' gathering in New Delhi

The Mao Naga 52nd Freshers' cum Annual Gathering 2024 was organised on celebrating the vibrant culture and achievements of the Mao Naga community at New Delhi on November9.MLA Losii Dikho; Ashuli Chalai, president of the Mao Welfare Association Delhi and Joint Secretary of the National Commission for Women; K Moses Chalai, Secretary of the Inter State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs; Dr Ashiho Asosii Mao, Director of the Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata; and Koshia, Special Public Prosecutor, District & Session Court, Senapati attended the event.
The event also welcomed representatives from the Mao Student Union, including Mariikho O'Leriina, Tribunal General and former president of the Mao Student Union; and Wennyei Konyak, Residents Commissioner of Nagaland House, New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Losii Dikho encouraged the members of the community to preserve their cultural values and pursue economic empowerment.
"Economic strength surpasses political influence," he said, inspiring youths to embrace entrepreneurship as a path to success and make lasting progressive impact on the society.
He further called on all to do community service sincerely, and remarked, "Politics should be about lifting each other up and working sincerely for the public".
The event was filled with vibrant music, entertainment programmes, and a lively ululation (makei) competition.
Ronald Pfokreni emerged as the champion, with Mariikho Lerinah as the first runner-up, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the audience.
Adding a touch of excitement to the event, freshers were also celebrated with the selection of Lohrii Mokukape and Kajini as Mr and Miss Freshers respectively.
Cultural performances showcased talents of the members of the community and contributed to the event's joyful and memorable atmosphere.
