Imphal, September 10 2020: A 70 years old man was found hanged to death under an iron suspension bridge build across Maklang River here in Imphal West district early today morning .

Police source and local speculations suggest the man to have committed suicide by hanging from the bridge using a rope.

Co-incidentally the world today observed the World Suicide Prevention Day.

What is more shocking is that the deceased identified as Khomdram Gambhir Singh was on the news in April 2018 after he had disappeared from his home in Manipur for nearly 40 years.

He was found loitering in the street of Mumbai and a photographer identified as Firoz Shakir helps him reunite with his family members.

Gambhir Singh, then 65 years old was brought back to his home at Khumbong on April 19, 2018 .

Report said that, Gambhir Singh dead body was found hanging from the suspension iron bridge build across Maklang River near Ibudhou Chairel Khong at around 3.30 am by morning joggers.

Meanwhile, the World Suicide Prevention Day 2020 was observed at Chief Medical Office Chandel organised by District Mental Health programme Chandel and District Health society Chandel .

This year them for the observance is - Working Togeather to Prevent suicide.

The Observance was led by Dr Serthani serbum CMO Chandel and Dr Kh Robindro DNO Chandel gave a message on the theme.

As part of the observance mike publicity and distribution pamphlet on suicide prevention and also done in different areas of Chandel District.

A Candle lighting programme was also organised in the evening to show respect to the departed souls and solidarity with the families.
