State level PMEGP workshop held

A state level workshop on Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme organised by Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board was held today at GM Hall with Principal Secretary (Commmerce & Industry) O Nabakishore Singh and Additional Director (Commmerce & Industry) V Tualthang gracing the opening programme as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
Today's workshop is a component of the ongoing State level exhibition on handloom and handicraft items at the GM Hall complex.
The exhibition organised by Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board is sponsored by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Government of India.
exuding confidence that the workshop will give fresh impetus on the development of various trades suitable to Manipur, O Nabakishore called upon the people to contribute their mite in the economic development of Manipur.
According to Board's Chief Executive Officer L Biren Singh the workshop is being organised to facilitate smooth and judicious implementation of various programmes for the State artisans.
While stating that focus is on development of small scale industries such as handloom and handicraft in the rural areas, he however, regretted that many beneficiaries not clearing loan dues in time has been creating serious problems to financial institutions.
Since implementation of PMEGP schemes in Manipur in 2009-2010 till date the number of beneficiaries has crossed the 4000 mark, informed the CEO.
The opening programme was also attended by SBI (RBO) Assistant General Manager James Thatlinga, DIC Imphal West General Manager T Rajen Singh and KVIC, Imphal Deputy Director Rual Khulmi.
