Biren condemns, reviews security set up

Chief Minister N Biren has strongly condemned the bomb blast at the road junction leading to Koirengei BSF Sector headquarters this afternoon in which two BSF personnel were killed and two civilians were wounded.
The Chief Minister paid a visit to the two wounded victims who are - currently undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.
Later, speaking to media persons, Biren condemned the bomb attack in the strongest term.
He said that the bomb blasts at M Sector and Mapal Kangjeibung on January 15 and February 5 this year respectively are being investigated.
Another bomb exploded in front of Sanjeevani, which houses the office of the PRO of Assam Rifles near PDA complex yesterday in which one AR personnel was injured, followed by another one at Koirengei today.

Questioning the intention of the perpetrators of the blasts, the Chief Minister asserted that the Government would not remain silent to such violence.
Saying that police would now do their 'duties', the Chief Minister asked whether police would be blamed for committing excesses when they perform their duties.
The perpetrators would not be let scot-free.
The Government would hunt them and they would be awarded befitting punishment in order to show that there is rule of law, Biren vowed.
Stating that the Government would bear medical expenses of all the wounded victims, the Chief Minister conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families of the two BSF personnel killed in the blast.
He further assured all possible assistance from the side of the State Government towards the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister also met BSF officers at JNIMS morgue.
Later, the Chief Minister convened a high level meeting and reviewed the State's security and law and order situation, informed a source.
Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu, DGP LM Khaute and top civil and police officers attended the meeting and it was decided to deploy more police commandos on duty and to improve the Forensic Science Laboratory.
The working conditions of the police personnel as well as the constraints faced by them were discussed to make them more effective, said a source.
