The Loktak Lake Development Committee has appealed to Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and K-Pro Infra Works Pvt Ltd to come to a settlement so that the company may pay the outstanding bills to the locals who had worked at Loktak lake.
The company is unable to pay the outstanding bills of bamboo spurring works at Loktak lake which had been completed three years back, said a statement.
When the committee members met the company officials, they said that LDA was withholding their bills, the statement said and added that as such they are not in a position to clear the outstanding dues.
On the other hand, when the committee members met LDA officials, they said that they could pay the bills to the company as they had to come to a settlement on certain issues.
But the problem is that the two parties are unable to come to a settlement that led to a lot of hardships to the locals involved in the work, the statement said.
The locals and committee would launch an agitation if the outstanding bills are not cleared, the statement said.
The committee also drew the attention of the Chief Minister to the matter.
