Heroin worth over Rs 3 Cr seized

The Maram Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector Assam Rifles under Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) seized 915 gram of heroin which is worth around Rs 3,66,000,00 from Sangkhumei village under Willong Sub-Division on May 6 .
According to credible sources, the troops of Maram Battalion launched a special operation at the area along NH 129/A on receiving inputs about the presence of drug smugglers there.
Saying that the troops detained two vehicles with Manipur registration number heading toward Dimapur in the evening, the sources maintained that the the drivers of the two vehicles were identified as Athary Ningkhalem and Hiipunii and from them 69 soap cases containing heroin were seized.
The drugs and vehicles were confiscated and NCB Imphal was informed immediately, it said and added that the seized items have been handed over to the NCB, Imphal while the two drivers were presented before a Court the next day.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a team of 36 Assam Rifles also seized 25 soap cases containing heroin from Selshi village in Churachandpur district, yesterday.
The heroin was reportedly seized from a 22 year old man Mangliansiam Phiamphu (22), s/o Chinsuankup of Suangphu village.
He has been handed over to Churachandpur police.
