National De-Worming Day launched at Spt, Tbl and Tpl

Joining with the rest of the country, District Health Society (DHS), Senapati has organized the launching programme of National De-worming Day at DV School, Senapati today.
The programme was graced by Somorjit Salam, IAS, DC who is also the chairman of the DHS, Senapati as the chief guest; Dr H Loli Mao, Director/CMO, DHS, Senapati as the functional president and Miranda Zimik, DPO, Senapati as the guest of honour along with thousands of students and faculty members of the school.
Speaking at the occasion, Miranda Zimik, DPO, Senapati briefed the gathering that National De-worming day is a ground breaking initiative focused on reducing the threat of parasitic worm infections which is a widespread health issue.
Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India initiated the programme with an aim to make every child in the country worm free, she added and said that the day is important to improve overall health and nutritional status of the children to lead a healthy life.
Addressing the gathering, the DC Somorjit Salam asserted that maintaining proper hygienic life and following proper way of washing hands are the best way to prevent such parasitic worms.
On the launching day, Albendazole tablets will be provided to all children in all schools, PHCs, PHSCs and Anganwadi centres to get rid of worms and stay healthy, he added.
Dr H Loli Mao, Director/CMO, DHS, Senapati urged the public that there is no need to panic as consumption of Albendazole tablets has no side effects.
He continued that the tablets will be given to children in the age group of 1-19 years for free and appealed all to maintain good hygiene and avoid open defecation to stay away from worm infection.
Thoubal: As observed across the nation, the National Deworming Day programme was also launched in Thoubal today.
The launching programme of National Deworming Day organized by District Health Society, Thoubal at Athokpam Junior High School was attended by CMO/DMD, District Health Society, Thoubal, Dr N Jayantakumar Singh and DFWO/DNO, NDD, DHS Thoubal, Dr Ksh Memcha Devi as chief guest and functional president respectively while Asst Zonal Nodal Officer, ZEO Thoubal Ningthoujam Dilip Singh; CDPO ICDS Thoubal, Tourangbam Anita Devi; CDPO, ICDS Lilong, Laimayum Dhanimacha Devi; and headmaster Athokpam Jr High School Thoubal Athokpam, Khangembam Ibohal Singh attended the programme as guests of honour.
Delivering the keynote speech, DPM National Health Mission (NHM) Thoubal, Ch Basanta stated that the about 1,01,859 children in the age group of 1 to 19 years registered in the 176 Govt Schools, 192 Private Schools and 949 Anganwadi Centres will be administered De-Worming tablets.
He said that De-worming day is organized twice a year adding that today's programme is the first edition for this year and appealed all the parents to administer their children de-worming tablets on February 14 if they missed it today.
He further said that it is imperative to maintain a clean and hygienic surroundings to stay away from all kinds of diseases including worm disease.
CMO/DMD, District Health Society, Thoubal Dr N Jayantakumar Singh said that National De-worming programme is one such programme initiated by the Govt of India to keep young children and adolescent healthy and fit adding that those children who suffered from worm disease could not concentrate on their studies.
Tengnoupal: Primary Health Centre (PHC) Moreh has conducted an inauguration ceremony of National Deworming Day at its premises today.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Md, Sahabudin SDC Moreh; Dr Kh Santikumar, M/O in charge, PHC Moreh and Devid, Headmaster Kwatha Junior High School as the presidium members.
Asha and Angalwadi workers also took part in the event.
Dr Bidyaluxmi and Dr Santikumar of RBSK stressed on the benefits of giving Albendazole to the children.
