Girl's Hostel inaugurated at NB College Foundation Day celebrated

A girl's hostel, constructed under UGC funding, was inaugurated today at Naorem Bihari College, Khundrakpam along Imphal-Saikul Road in Imphal East.
The inauguration of the girl's hostel coincided with the 28th foundation day of the college.
Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir; Chairman of NB College Governing Body and Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwor and Parliamentary Secretary, Md Amin Shah graced the occasion as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Principal of the College, Dr Ng Akashini and secretary of the college's Governing Body, Longjam Ibohal Singh also attended the programme.
Speaking at the occasion, Abdul Nasir stressed on the need to develop human resource in order to bring development.
Speaker Th Lokeshowr called upon the people to shun the idea of disintegration and rather work for the development of human resource in the State.
Besides honouring students of the college who secured high marks in respective examination, founder of the college was also feted at the occasion.
Naorem Bihari College is the first college of the State to have completed girl's hostel construction among 37 colleges that received grant from the UGC under its 11th Plan.
The college is privately run with some grants from the Government.
It has 46 faculty, 14 non-teaching staff and 7 unpaid staff.
Students from far-flung areas like Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Saikul, etc enrolled at the college.
Irom Kunjabati, vice-principal of the college said girl students from far-off places would now have the opportunity to stay within the campus and pursue their studies.
The College has produced several toppers in BA/BSc examination conducted by Manipur University and subject toppers in Class XII exams conducted by COHSEM.
Besides, the institution has also achieved several fetes in co-curricular activities.
