PWD Casual and Muster Roll employees stage sit-in protest

Casual and Muster roll employees of Public Works Department (PWD) staged a sit-in today at the office complex of PWD at Khuyathong demanding payment of their salaries for the last 10 months.
Tongbam Tikendrajit, president, Joint Coordinating Committee of PWD said the employees will lock the PWD office.
Speaking to the media, T Tikendrajit said the salaries of Casual and Muster roll employees of PWD have not been paid since November 2020, which is very unfortunate.
These employees are living a hard life on a meagre pay of just Rs 6000-8000 a month.
The issue of non-payment of salaries had also been raised to the Chief Minister and concerned officials in writing, but there has been no response from the authorities, he added.

He added that Casual and Muster roll employees of other departments like PHED, Minor Irrigation Department, Water Resources Department are paid regularly while PWD Casual and Muster roll employees have been left high and dry.
T Tikendrajit also appealed to the Government to provide benefits under Chief Minister gi Hakselgi Tengbangt (CMHT) and other beneficial schemes to the Casual and Muster roll employees of PWD.
All Manipur Trade Unions Council in a press release expounded the workers' distress under the present circumstances, which has been made exponentially worse by the pandemic and appealed to the Chief Engineer, PWD and the current Administration to bring an amicable solution and resolve this issue at the earliest.
