'Eikhoigee Panthung' celebrates 19th foundation day

Imphal, November 05 2017: The monthly journal of United People's Front (UPF), "Eikhoigee Panthung" today celebrated its 19th foundation day at Manipur Press Club .

Gracing the occasion as chief guest, president of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), Wangkhemcha Shamjai said that media which is the fourth estate of democracy plays a pivotal role in shaping a healthy society .

He further said that media makes the public aware about the daily social, political and economic activities happening in the society .

He maintained that it is the media through which voice of the people could reach to the Government .

He also appealed to media persons not to be prejudiced in filing news and get influenced by any group/individual .

Former president of UPF, Khomdram Ratan who attended the occasion as special invitee said that it is the responsibility of every citizen and the major community to safeguard the integrity of the State .

He appealed to all the Ministers, MLAs and civil society organisations to stand unitedly against any forces that threaten the territorial integrity of the State .

During the function, November edition of "Eikhoigee Panthung" was released .

Editor of the journal, Manglem Pechimayum and UPF president, Soraisam Ratankumar were present as president and guest of honour respectively.
