Imphal, August 05 2024: A combined team of State Police, BSF, Gurkha Rifles and Assam Rifles personnel recovered arms and ammunition during two search operations carried out at Thoubal and Kakching district this morning.

Acting on a specific input from 46 Assam Rifles corroborated with their own source, a combined team of Kakching District Commando, Wangoo Police Station, 131 Battalion BSF and 46 Assam Rifles conducted a search operation at Chairel Khunou Heirikokthong hill.

During the search operation, two hand grenades, one carbine magazine, one 2 inch mortar shell, six tear smoke shell, one anti riot cartridge, two smoke grenades, one helmet, one 12 Bore cartridge and four tracer rounds were recovered in a white bag from a secluded area in Heirikokthong Hill.

The recovered items were handed over to Wangoo Police Station.

Separately, a combined team of Special Operation Group Thoubal district and 5/9 Gorkha Regiment recovered arms and ammunition from the foothills of Leirongthel Pitra Lok Macha under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station this morning.

During the search operation, the team seized two 9mm SMG with magazine, two 9mm pistol, one .32 pistol, two 303 Rifle (country made), one 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, six hand grenades, three live rounds of MK III, six tear smoke shell, five live cartridges of 12 Bore Gun, fifteen live 9mm ball rounds, 40 live rounds of 7.62x 39mm ammunition, 44 live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, three live .32 ball rounds, twelve live rounds of 5.56 INSAS ammunition, one tube launcher, two hand grenade detonator, two grenade detonators of MK III and one hand set marked "Baofeng" .

The recovered items were seized on the spot and handed over to Nongpok Sekmai Police Station for investigation and further legal action, said sources.
