KANGPOKPI, May 05 2018:
The Kotlen Village Authority, Kangpokpi in a press release issued by Chief Dongkhojang Haokip today clarified that it had never ordered the six families of Kotlen village to dismantle their houses and leave the village.
The families were never ostracised.
"On the 28th April, 2018 the six families dismantled their dwelling houses and left the village on their intention," said the statement.
It may be mentioned that recently there were reports about six families of the Kotlen village being ostracised by the village authority for not sending their lads to Government school in the village.
According to the statement today, agenda 4 of the adopted resolutions (adopted at the annual Assembly of the village on January 21) provided that the 41 households in the village have to admit their children to the Government school in the village.
However, admissions to private schools are allowed.
The resolution was to improve the functioning of the lone Government school in the village, said the statement.
However, the six families were found to have admitted their wards to a Government school in another village defying the resolution of the village authority adopted and signed by 32 family representatives who were present at the annual Assembly.
Requests to withdraw their wards were made to the six families repeatedly, said the statement.
"Request were made in the Church services but these six families pay no heed.
The village deemed these families non-cooperative to the village administration and disloyalty to the village authority who pave better ways for better education to their children, who allowed them to live and access the village's land and products free of cost for many years," said the statement of the village authority.
"These die-hard families instead of contributing to the village administration tried to disintegrate the unity and brotherhood of the village which compelled the village authority to allow them to migrate to any village they choose to without any hatred and compulsion," asserted the statement.
