PM-SYM pension scheme for workers of unorganised sector launched

In consonance with the launch of National Pension scheme � Pradhan Mantri - Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM) for workers and labourers of unorganised sector by the Prime Minister, the same scheme was launched in districts across the State today.
The scheme will provide an assured monthly pension of Rs 3,000 for workers in the unorganised sector with a monthly income of up to Rs 15,000, from the retirement age (60 years).
This will be on a monthly contribution of a small amount during their working age.
Bishnupur district Deputy Commissioner Pawan Yadav launched the scheme at Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.

The launch of the scheme organised by the Labour Department, MBOCWWB and district administration Bishnupur was also attended by ADM Bishnupur AS Elias, SDO Bishnupur M Kapajit and Labour Inspector Y Subhaschandra Singh.
The scheme covers workers of the unorganised sectors such as home based workers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, head loaders, brick kiln workers, cobblers, rag pickers, domestic workers, washer men, rickshaw pullers, landless labourers, own account workers, agricultural workers, construction workers, beedi workers, handloom workers, leather workers, audio- visual workers and similar other occupations.
The unorganised sector workers, with income of less than Rs 15,000 per month and who belong to the entry age group of 18-40 years, will be eligible for the scheme.
The pension scheme was also launched by Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai K, IAS at Gamnom Saparmaina CC Hall, Kangpokpi district.
The function was organised by Labour Department, Government of Manipur & MBOCWWB in collaboration with District Administration, Kangpokpi.
N Johnson Meitei MCS, SDO Saitu Gamphazol and L Veikhu Labour Inspector, Dept of Labour were also present at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalithambigai K stated that the scheme is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme under which the subscriber shall receive minimum assured pension of Rs 3,000 per month after attaining the age of 60 years.
Eligible beneficiaries can register themselves at any nearby Common Services Centre (CSC) to avail the benefits of the scheme, she said.
SDO Saitu Gamphazol N Johnson also explained the features of the scheme to the labours who came to register for PM-SYM.
Later, the DC distributed PM-SYM cards to three beneficiaries.
On the spot registration of the scheme continued till the end of the day.
The pension scheme was also launched at Chandel and Noney district.
