Imphal, December 04 2024:
Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi has reviewed the availability of health facilities and infrastructure related issues in hill districts today.
A statement issued by the Health Department said that the meeting was attended by the Special Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Health Director, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) among others.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioners and the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of hill districts presented the challenges in health facilities such as shortage of human resources and unavailability of infrastructure.
After listening to the problems, the Chief Secretary issued four directives.
On human resource rationalization, the Chief Secretary asked the Special Secretary of Health and Family Welfare and Health Director to devise a model to optimise the deployment of available human resources including specialists, medical officers, nurses and technicians.
He also advised all concerned to formulate a plan to develop a blood bank in districts where the facility is not available.
The Deputy Commissioners, on the other hand, were directed to take a proactive role in reviewing the performance of health facilities in coordination with the Chief Medical Officers.
On infrastructure development, the Chief Secretary instructed the State-level officers to assess and review the ongoing projects and prepare a comprehensive plan for securing funds to construct buildings for Primary Health Sub Centres, Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres lacking infrastructure.
