A Single Bench of the High Court of Manipur on August 30 issued notice to the State of Manipur and 10 others in connection with a writ petition filed by one Aribam Biswajit for quashing and setting aside the selection list in respect of appointment of Information Assistants in the Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) published on March 14, 2024.The notice was issued by Justice A Guneshwar Sharma.
The petition was filed before the Court by Aribam Biswajit against the State of Manipur represented by it Secretary/Commissioner, Information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur, the Director, Information and Public Relations and 10 other private respondents.
The application prayed the Court for issuance of a writ for quashing and setting aside the notification selection lists dated March 14, 2024 for appointment to the post of Information Assistant in the DIPR.
It alleged that marks given to some selected candidates (private respondents) are odd number marks which is against the norms given in the advertisement notification dated August 16, 2021 where each question carries 2 marks and as such the same is illegal, arbitrary and malafide in nature.
The petition prayed the Court to direct the Forensic Department to check if there is any manipulation in the answer sheets.
The petition further prayed the Court to direct the respondents to declare the whole examination as null and void in case any manipulation is confirmed by the Forensic Department.
The Court on perusal of the filed petition and after hearing the submission of petitioner's counsel Senior Advocate N Jotendro, issued notice to the respondents.
The Government Advocate prayed for 3 weeks time for filing counter affidavits and the Court listed the case on October 7 for further hearing.
