Torban Kshetri Leikai GP forms body to fight COVID-19

Under the initiative of the Torban Kshetri Leikai Development Committee, a new body called "Combined Covid-19 Fighting Team, Torban Kshertri Leikai Gram Panchayat" was formed today at a function attended by representatives of South East Youth Organisation (SEYO), Pebiya Pandit Leikai Youth Development Organisation (PPLYDO), Athletics Sports Association (ASA), Monkhanglambi Modern Club (MMC) and Young Women Welfare Association (YWWA).
Zilla Parishad Member Seram Neken, ex-Pradhan Longjam Sunil, ward members Laithangbam Sasikanta, Maibam Lekhajit, Nk Khamba and Thoudam Amuba were also present in the meeting.
ZP member Seram Neken and ex-Pradhan Longjam Sunil of Torban Kshetri Leikai Gram Panchayat were elected as chairman and convenor of the newly formed body.
The newly formed 'Combined Covid-19 Fighting Team' has declared immediate ban on all kinds of liquor vendors and other substance abuses within the jurisdiction of Torban Kshertri Leikai Gram Panchayat.
It also resolved to enforce strict compliance of guidelines prescribed by the Government for fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
The team appealed to the local people of the GP to strictly follow social distancing, compulsorily wear face masks and also to keep the body neat and clean by way of regular handwashing and sanitisation.
All entry points to the GP area will be monitored and visitors will be sanitised at five different points.
Unnecessary loitering or roaming in the Gram Panchayat areas have been banned with immediate effect.
In view of the alarming increase of infected persons in and around the Torban Kshetri Leikai Gram Panchayat, the Combined Covid 19 Fighting Team has opened helpline numbers for any related information of the needy citizens.
