Kuki Inpi submits memorandum

Imphal, March 03 2017: Kuki Inpi has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing to settle the alleged heinous acts committed by NSCN-IM and also to reveal the contents of the Framework Agreement.

Despite submitting numerous memorandums regarding the issue in the past, no positive step has been initiated so far but instead signed an agreement with NSCN-IM in June 2001 while BJP was in power at the Centre, the memorandum said.

The worse is the secret agreement tagged as "Framework Agreement" last year without revealing its detail.

NSCN-IM is one section of the Naga tribes and the Nagas and the Kukis are indigenous people living together in the same land since time immemorial., Kuki Inpi noted in the memorandum.

It also said that Kuki Inpi also opposes any kind of agreement of India with a single organisation/community which is based in a place resided by people belonging to different indigenous communities without consulting the same with all the stakeholders.

The infamous Bangkok Agreement had led to the death of 18 precious lives in 2001.Let the Centre not undertake any step that will create another turmoil in the State, Kuki Inpi said and urged the Central Government to settle the alleged heinous acts of NSCN-IM legally in order to uphold the law and order, it added.
