Many condemn assault

Taragi Cheisu, Rongmei Naga Students' Organization Manipur (RNSOM) and Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) have condemned the assault of two Poumai Naga individuals by armed miscreants at Lamsang on October 31 night.
While Taragi Cheisu said that such conducts of rogue individuals have created misunderstanding among the people, RNSOM and RNYOM urged the Government to arrest the culprits involved in the assault case and take punitive action against them.
V Hrangao Blesson Poumai, s/o Veino from Kodom Khullen Village and Dalou Poumai, s/o Hrinii of Liyai Khullen Village were assaulted by armed miscreants at Lamshang in the wee hours of October 31 as per statements issued by different organisations.
Speaking to the media at Khurai Ahongei today, Taragi Cheisu chairman Khaidem Mani said that the Government must take up necessary actions to prevent gang violence.
Saying that rogue individuals must be booked and take legal actions against them, he added that Taragi Cheisu condemns the violent assault of two Poumai Naga individuals somewhere at Lamshang on October 31 night.
Further stating that goondaism needs to be stopped, Kh Mani added that gang violence, if escalated, will create distrust among the people.
Manipur is home to diverse communities and as such people should refrain from blaming an entire community for a wrong done by one person or a group of people, he further said and added that there are rogue individuals in every community.
He reiterated that the Government and its agency must enforce the law of the land effectively and prevent gang violence.
Meanwhile, RNSOM and RNYOM, in a joint statement, claimed that Hrangao Blesson and Dalou were assaulted by members of Arambai Tenggol and some valley based outfits when they were returning from Thoubal after buying some cattle to sell them in Senapati.
Saying that the two persons are innocent daily wage earners, the two Rongmei Naga organisations claimed that money was also extorted from them by the assailants.
Why are Naga people who have been maintaining neutrality amid the conflict being attacked time and again by valley based militants, it asked while urging the Government to arrest the culprits involved in the Lamshang incident and take punitive action against them.
RNSOM and RNYOM further urged the State Government and valley based civil society organisations to discipline the culprits and prevent attacks on innocent Naga people in future.
Moreover, IPSA, PANDM, ACOAM Lup, IPAK, KSA, ERDO, Kangla Mei, KIL, CLK, SWA, LOYALUP, MIKAL and AKSHIL have also strongly condemned the assault of two Poumai Naga individuals by armed miscreants at Lamsang on October 31 night.
