Mishap at Sangaiprou area kills

Imphal, September 02 2011: Amid negligible vehicular movement due to the 24 general strike observed today, a seven-year old girl has been killed after being hit by a car at Sangaiprou area of Imphal-Churachandpur road at around 8.30 am.

According to a police source, the victim girl namely Keisham Sonia d/o K Ibosana from Kumbi Setupur but presently staying at Sangaiprou, was hit by a Chevrolet car (MN04/A0867) while trying to cross the road and meet her mother, who was on the other side of the road.

Even though Sonia was rushed to RIMS Hospital, she succumbed to the injuries later.

In connection with the accident, a case has been registered by Singjamei police station, under whose jurisdiction the accident spot falls.

The car has been seized by police and body of the girl handed over to family members after completion of post mortem.

Meanwhile, atleast three occupants of two vehicles suffered injuries of varying degrees when a Maruti Gypsy rammed at a stationary Maruti Car in Babupara area near 1st Bn Manipur Rifles campus at around 5 pm today.
