Tragedy at Mapithel Dam : One body recovered

Out of the three persons who sank in Mapithel Dam reservoir after their boats capsized on April 28, body of one was recovered by volunteers of Ramrei village this afternoon.
Notably, two boats with 12 persons on board capsized at the impact of cyclone Fani on April 28 .
While nine were rescued on the day, the three others could not be traced.
As the three persons could not be found extensive search operations, joined by NDRF and Navy divers, were launched and they have been searching for the three missing persons.
Volunteers of Ramrei village joined the search operation this morning.
They used a steel hook and they rowed a boat slowly around the spot where the three persons sank after lowering the steel hook to the bottom of the reservoir.
As the volunteers rowed the boat slowly, the hook got stuck in something.
As the object with which the hook was stuck was pulled up, it turned out to be Saggapam Rajiv's body.
Immediately, the body was brought ashore and taken to JNIMS mortuary.
However, bodies of Saggapam Romen and Ningthoujam Rani could not be recovered so far.
Meanwhile, NDRF and Navy divers searched for the missing persons from 5 am till 6 pm today.
An Indian Army helicopter hovered over the reservoir yesterday and checked if anybody was floating.
