Imphal, April 02 2018:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has strongly condemned the decision of the Tatar Hoho to recognise the Zeme, Liangmai, and Rongmei as separate Naga tribes against the existing Zeliangrong tribe.
In a statement issued to the press today, ZUF said that the Zeliangrong people is a distinct tribe having a common ancestry and hailing from a common dwelling place called Makuiluangdi.
"The people share the blood relationship in a special way even though dialects have evolved in our society in the course of time," claimed ZUF.
The decision to recognise the Zeliangrong people as separate tribes is a direct infringement on the internal affairs of the people and is an attempt to distort the history of the Zeliangrong people, said ZUF, rejecting the decision of the NSCN (IM) .
The decision to further divide the Zeliangrong people has come even as the Zeliangrong people are trying to undo the imposed names and nomenclature by other forces/Governments over a long period of time, claimed ZUF and added that the divide and rule policy of the NSCN (IM) is nothing but following the colonial power which the Zeliangrong people will fight.
ZUF also urged the NSCN (IM) to reconsider its decision so as to promote harmony amongst the Zeliangrong people in particular and the Nagas in general.
