Paraolon ambush of June 4, 2015 NIA Court summons accused cadres

Imphal, March 02 2016: Special Judge (NIA), Manipur has summoned 18 cadres of three armed groups including NSCN (K) chairman SS Khaplang, KYKL chairman Namoijam Okendro and KCP president Ksh Noyon to appear before the Court at Uripok Cheirap Court Complex on April 4 in connection with last year's Paraolon ambush in Chandel district.

The proclamation requiring the appearance of the cadres was issued by Salam Imocha Singh, Special Judge (NIA), Manipur yesterday after hearing a case filed against the accused under case No RC-03/2015/NIA-GUW under Section 302, 307, 120 B, 121A IPC, 25(1)(c), 27 Arms Act, 5 Explosive Substances Act and 16/20 UA(P) Act.

Amongst others, the cadres summoned to appear before the Court include Shangwang Shangyung Khaplang Pangmei alias Khaplang alias Baba, chairman of NSCN-K, UNLFWSEA, who is reported to be staying at Taga Camp (Naga self-administered zone) in Sagaing Province of Myanmar; Namoijam Okendro alias Oken alias Inaobi alias Sunil alias Gopen of Khurai Soibam Leikai, chairman of KYKL and Kshetrimayum Noyon alias Hemanta alias Ibohal alias Achouba alias Kirankumar alias Laba alias Kumar of Sekta Awang Leikai, president of KCP.

The Court also issued proclamation order against Finance Minister of NSCN-K, Starson Lamkang s/o Amung Lamkang and h/o Wahengbam Babita of Palace Compound; deputy secretary of publicity and research, KYKL, Thoudam Thoiba alias Mahesh s/o (L) Biren of Khurai Thoudam Leikai and military supervisor of NSCN-K, Nikki Sumi alias Nikki Sema of Zunheboto district and Naharbari, Dimapur, Nagaland.

Others summoned by the NIA Court include one 'Captain' and two corporals of KCP and nine corporals of KYKL.

It may be mentioned that 18 personnel of 6 Dogra Regiment were killed and several others injured in an ambush reportedly carried out by combined cadres of NSCN-K, KYKL and KCP at Paraolon in Chandel district on June 4 last year.

The Centre outlawed the NSCN-K after the incident.
