Imphal, June 01 2013 : Noting need for change in programmes and policies of Social Welfare Department so that welfare schemes reach the grassroots level, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai said efforts are being made to effect necessary changes.

Speaking as the chief guest at the golden jubilee celebration of Youth Progressive Club, Sagolband Takyel Kolom Leikai today, the Minister stated that deliberations are on with Commissioner and Director concerned to settle flaws hampering judicious implementation of ICDS programmes.

Urging the common people to provide constructive suggestions so that Social Welfare Department functions efficiently and live up to the people's expectation, Mirabai, who is also the Cooperative Minister, informed that requisite procedures to amend Cooperative Society Act 1976 is underway to bring about positive changes in the Department.

Expressing that prolonged negligence of Patsoi AC had resulted in the people deprived of development opportunities, she pledged her maximum effort to develop Patsoi constituency.

Mirabai also appealed to all concerned to ensure that development funds provided to zilla parishad, pradhan and line departments do not lapse.
