Contributions of unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle deliberated

A one day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was organised at DM College of Science, Imphal by the Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Imphal, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India today.
Dr N Bhuvaneshwari Devi, Principal, DM College of Science, Imphal presided over the event, said a press release issued by ROB, Imphal.
Speaking as the chief guest, B Narayanan, Additional Director General, Imphal Region said that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrates the spirit of courage and freedom, freedom of expression, assembly, speech and association which are hard won freedom.
Many unsung heroes faced hardship to make this freedom guaranteed in India, he added.
Speaking as a resource person, N Malemsanba Meetei, Assistant Professor, GP Women's College elaborated on the contributions of the unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle.
The contributions of Hijam Irabot amongst others from Manipur in India's freedom struggle was also explained in detail, added the press release.
A quiz contest was also held and prizes along with certificates were distributed.
Private Registered Troupes(PRT) of ROB, Imphal, M/s Bannian Repertory Theatre played a drama on Jallianwalah Bagh and M/s Kala Sangam performed a Thang-ta show.
The press release further informed that Dr Aribam Ibomcha Sharma, Head of Office, ROB, Imphal, members of the National Cadet Corps of DM Colleges of Arts and Science attended the programme amongst others.
