16-day activism on gender based violence launched at Thoubal

Thoubal, November 30 2019:
Integrated Rural Development Service Organisation (IRDSO) and WinG (Women in Governance) Thoubal launched international campaign - 16 days of activism on gender based violence at the Conference Hall of IRDSO, Wangjing, Thoubal district.
The event was held under the theme "Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands Against Rape".
Salam Imocha, Judge Family Court Thoubal and Rakesh Meihoubam Executive Director Human Right Law Network, WinG member Mamtaz Begam, Nonibala Narengbam, convenor WinG Thoubal, SP Kakching Victoria Yengkhom and others attended the event.
During the programme, Superintendent of Police Kakching Victoria Yengkhom spoke on the topic "Role of Police in ending Gender Based Violence, Practical Challenges" while Thokchom Premlata Assistant Director of Human Right Law Network spoke on "Democratic Violence- Status of Justice Delivery, Practical Challenges".
Aribam Gopeshwar Sharma Public Prosecutor of Session Court Thoubal talked about "Sexual Violence- Status of Justice Delivery, Practical Challenges".
Resource persons emphasised the need to curb crime against women and identified awareness and education as means to end gender based violence.
