JSCC to monitor students' polls

Joint Students Coordinating Committee (JSCC) has constituted a body called Monitoring Cell of the College Students Union, to prevent any unwanted incident as well as to ensure a successful election for the student unions of the colleges affiliated to Manipur University which will be held on November 6.Speaking to media persons at the head office of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) today, JSCC convenor Ng Milan said that since 2011, the association has been working tirelessly to ensure a free and fair election of college student unions.
As such, JSCC and its constituent associations namely AMSU, MSF, KSA and SUK came together to form the election monitoring cell for this year's election, Milan added.
Speaking to media persons, the convenor of the newly formed monitoring cell Thokchom Suresh said that due to the formation of such a body, the atmosphere of dread and fear often associated with elections have completely vanished.
He further pointed out that the same 14 points code of conduct which was enforced in the earlier election will still be in force during the coming election as well.
Informing that the said code of conduct is enforced from today, Suresh warned that candidates who fail to follow the rules will be penalised and urged all to properly follow the code of conduct.
